The album of the legendary pioneer of World Music is a two-CD album recorded over three evenings in the sacred Yakushiji Temple in Japan's ancient capital of Nara. With full instrumentation, Kitaro offers nine favorite compositions from their earlier albums, plus the theme Awarded Golden Globe Oliver Stone film Heaven and Earth, and two new songs, this is a journey of force to Kitaro and his band . All the drama, spirituality and humanity of his usual themes are here with the added urgency of the live recording and the deep spirit of the monks Yakushiki displayed on the new song "Wa" in addition to the track that opens the album. Yakushiji Temple, Nara prefecture
Yakushi-ji, one of the MOST famous and ancient imperial Buddhist temples in Japan, is the headquarters of the school of Hosso Japanese Buddhism.
It is
part of the sites that collectively constitute the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara.
The temple'ts name is derived from its main object of veneration, Yakushi Nyorai, also named "The Medicine Buddha", one of first Buddhist Deities to arrive in Japan from China in 680.
